About Me

Making her grand entrance on August 30th, 1981, McKenna was destined for great things. She was born and raised in Hawai’i and comes from a large family. Following her parents' entertainment footsteps, McKenna developed a unique knack for connecting with people, even at an early age. By the time she was a student (and a good one at that), McKenna was immersed in the entertainment industry and quickly fell in love with music. In school she was active and participated in everything under the sun - from school talent shows, fundraisers and special events.

At 17, McKenna entered local pageants and in return got to take her island roots with her around the world. This experience allowed her to widen her eyes and see the incredible amount of diversity that was out there. Later that year, McKenna left Hawai’i for northern California and attended Foothill College. While at Foothill, she competed in the Miss Los Altos Pageant, which earned her various respectable talent and interview awards.

McKenna has also been an avid hula dancer for most of her life. She has danced for some of the best kumu hula in the world, including Chinky Mahoe and Mark Keali’i Ho’omalu. In 2000, she joined Na Mele Hula ‘Ohana and entered in the prestigious Merrie Monarch hula competition.

In 2002, McKenna moved south to Los Angeles and finished the Broadcast Journalism program at UCLA Extension. She quickly found herself interning for ABC 7's entertainment reporter George Pennacchio. During her time at ABC, McKenna was given her chance to shine and got a taste of Hollywood interviewing stars from all walks of the industry - including Stevie Wonder and George Clooney. She furthered her knowledge by assisting producers at NBC’s Access Hollywood. Her broad knowledge of pop culture, spontaneity, quick wit and comfort in front of the camera have confirmed that this is what she was born to do!

McKenna’s unique roots, charming personality and contagious passion for both music and entertainment sets her apart from many in her field. Currently you can find her and good times right here on musicplustv.com Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9am PST hosting Kickstart.
