video > Skinny Puppy Interview (w/Rev. Mitcz)

Description

Rev. Mitcz (of the MusicPlusTV.com show Aural Salvation) interviews one of his favorite bands of all time : Skinny Puppy. The founding members, Nivek Ogre and cEvin Key, are interviewed about their wild 25-year ride.

This is the full, uncut 30-minute interview done "backstage" (it's actually underneath the stage) at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on June 23rd (their 2nd-to-last show of the Mythrus tour).

If you're interested in a sort-of behind-the-scenes blog, and what it was like meeting them, etc. I've posted a blog here : http://vlaze.com/revmitcz/blog/1174/

This comment is on downloading the goods at no price.
Skinny Puppy is one of my favorite bands.
What I don't understand is the hypocrisy.. and this goes for all artists that preach, paint, and sing about animal rights and death of the environment at the hands of working class humans.
The money that is payed for the goods artists supply is money made from a system that these artists complain about, but yet they take the offerings.... by the millions$$$. So fuckin what people download your shit at no cost or financial gain to the artist, so what if the ones that download your shit don't have the unique qualities that come along with the personal touch of the artist. You will always have your loyal fans that do buy your shit, and that should be enough compensation for your talent as artists Get over it. Things change. Roll with it and stop whining like a bitch.

What a brilliant interview!
The issues given for their biggest political concerns was so succinctly put it enabled me to hear my own fears for the world today - I could echo what was said for the UK also - the rise of patriotism and highly worrying increase in people voting for extreme parties here makes me wonder what the future holds and whether I want to be around to find out...
Thanks to you and Skinny Puppy

Current 93 - Lucifer over London

By Lucifer I mean that cartoon messiah of yours.

...and then the moon

I read something interesting today. It was a kind of "typing before yo scroll" thing, so I can't provide you with link to it. It was something like "you may think that it's black magic", and "gimp-image-resize is our friend" (that was from gimp scripting tutorial page).

"gimp-image-resize is our friend" - that's of course about John Balance that makes backing vocals on Lucifer over London (coil has a track named gimp sometimes).

"you may think that it's black magic" - that's good said. I might, when you want to beat me to the round, and I can't when I want to share it with someone, because it sounds trivial. Everybody could say: black magic doesn't exist. But nobody would say that psychology, pharmacology, thievery, hypnosis, persecution, manipulating people, and interpretations doesn't. Black magic consists of all those things.

You may name yourself a lier, but it won't make you more believable.

I am not going to sue nobody (since those things are quite random). But since you relay on comic pastels, please consider the fact that it really works against you (especially that you know, and just cross-relate those things). That's not me on this pic.

I don't know exactly how old, but they started out in about '82. So, it's been 25 years. Assuming they were likely around 20 when they started out, they'd be in their mid-40s now.

But that's just a guess.

Great interview - this tour was quite a bit different from the last (greater wrong of the right), but distinct and hard-hitting nonetheless. I nearly shit my pants when they played FAR TOO FRAIL (one of my all time 'faves) and of course the evil and delicious TORMENTOR from "too dark park", which is my favorite industrial album of all time. I love how they showcased the drummer, what a talent like the rest of them. damned discipleSF

Haven't read the interview yet, but it's awesome you did it. Can't wait to read it. I saw them up here in San Francisco a couple days before your interview, and am wondering what Skinny Puppy is up to these days! Thanks! damned disciple
